Timber harvesting and sawmilling generate byproducts known as residues that can be processed into a wide range of products. This report examines barriers and opportunities for improving residue use within the North East NSW region. Utilising residues as bioenergy products represents a promising emerging prospect.
Through investigations and consultation an integrated stewardship strategy for residues was developed by the consultant which addresses a range of commercial, regulatory and sustainability parameters.
